Why is site uptime important?

You might think that website's look and feel along with its ease of use it most important for your visitors or customers but what about the uptime? The prolonged efforts that you took to woo your visitors or potential customers has bear fruit and the customer is interested in visiting your site but what he finds upon his visit is an error page saying that your site is down!

Just think about the image of the site that gets created in your mind when you visit a site you think might be worth for something and it says it's down! It leaves you a feeling that either the owner is negligible or the site isn't that authentic! Similarly, when your site is down you tend to leave a negative feedback in peoples' mind apart from the probable loss of your sales or business.
